Kyra's Collection It all began the fall of 2005 with a trip to the grocery store. I love shopping with the kids (on most days) and we often talk about how our buying decisions affect the world around us. We talk about how we buy more fresh food and less packaged food to reduce the garbage going to landfills. Or how less junk food is better for our bodies. On this particular trip we started talking about a brand of food, where most of the money is donated to various charities. My daughter Kyra thought about it a lot and we continued to talk about it for about a month after the shopping trip. Whenever we pulled the brand from our pantry Kyra asked "what kind of charities?" or "how much money?". About a month later, she asked me if she could design a line of jewelry. I immediately thought...Why? Then she said she wanted to donate all of the money to charity. So after a year of talking about it and working on the designs. Kyra created all of the designs with the use of precious metal clay and traditional metalsmithing techniques. Other than the actual soldering, Kyra has done all of the work on the collection, including the logo and packaging decisions. Kyra came up with the charities in the generic (Kids, Cancer, Animal, Hunger Relief and Medical Help) I've worked on coming up with specific charities.
